2007 Amarone della Valpolicella

2007 Tedeschi Amarone della Valpolicella Capitel Monte Olmi – The nose was earthy with dried cherry, soil tones and an aroma I can only describe as pea soup. On the palate, it was full-bodied and balanced, showing black cherry and floral-rose notes. The finish turned tart, restraining the fruit yet staying long on the senses. 2007 Speri Amarone della Valpolicella Vigneto Monte Sant’Urbano – The nose was rich with blackberry fruit, medicinal cherry, herbs, earth tones and spice. On the palate, it was smooth and velvety with intense cherry, raisin and a hint of orange zest. The finish showed dried black cherry, burnt sugar and a hint of bitters. 2007 Brigaldara Amarone della Valpolicella Case Vecie – The nose showed sweet, dusty cherry with minerals, herbs a hint of olive and red licorice. On the palate, it was medium-bodied and juicy with flavors of sweet, spiced cherry. The finish was long and seemed to melt form the palate. (92 points) Find it on Wine-Searcher!

2007 Begali Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Monte Ca Bianca – The nose showed blackberry jam, plum, dry cherries, herbs and mineral tones. On the palate, it was rich yet juicy with flavors of black cherry and dark chocolate. The finish showed intense fruit with a bitter twang, which kept it grounded in reality and perfectly enjoyable.
